The Client:

The New Zealand Seafood Industry Council is an advocacy organisation for the industry, as well as co-ordinating the industry training function. Each year they organise an Annual Conference.

The Requirement:

The site is required to handle three different functions:

  1. Provide information about the conference, and enable people to register.
  2. Process all registrations, and handle the communications with the registrants.
  3. Provide logistic information to the conference organiser's who were both based inside and outside of the Council's offices.

The Solution:

We built a dynamic site using Macromedia Dreamweaver MX which is linked to a cart powered by Cold Fusion to enable the registration process. The site was based on the one that has been successfully used since 2002 for the Rotary Conferences.

In the public area, all of the content is dynamic in that it is driven by database content, updated by online forms. Registrants are give the option of paying online with credit card, or printing off an invoice that can then be sent in with a cheque.

The registration processing, and reporting is handled behind a password protected area. All registrations (including those received on paper) are processed via the site. Automatically generated emails are sent confirming registrations, which contain a PDF copy of the registration which is generated by the system.

There is a small finance function that enables reminders to be sent to those who have registered but not paid.
